Off The Wall

Andy Kirkpatrick - Autumn 2010 Tour

Andy Kirkpatrick ‘Off The Wall’ Internationally acclaimed mountaineer, writer and comedian Andy Kirkpatrick is back by popular demand with his third stand-up

show...

Following his successful ‘Psychovertical’ and ‘When Hell Freezes Over’ UK theatre tours in 2007/2008, the multi-faceted, internationally acclaimed mountaineer

and comedian Andy Kirkpatrick is set to return to UK theatres in Autumn 2010 with his brand new show Off The Wall.

The UK’s only “stand-up mountaineer” Andy is a natural performer with talents to rival the top comedy acts in the UK.  His inimitable style coupled with his love

for all things extreme make for a unique evening of entertainment, with stunning images and footage accompanying his tales of terror from the steep.

In his past shows Andy searched for an answer to his perpetual quest for adventure.  ‘Off The Wall’ is his third attempt to answer the reason why he climbs, as

he charts the last two years of his life with a collection of stories, including climbing the mighty El Capitan in Yosemite with injured serviceman Major Phil

Packer, a dramatic rescue from the North Face of the Eiger, a near drowning at Cape Wrath and a trip to Number 10.

Andy is a hugely popular speaker and accomplished story-teller, as comfortable on stage as he is lashed to an ice-clad mountain in a 100mph storm. In ‘Off The

Wall’, he bucks the trend of macho mountain men, recounting his crazy adventures with a heady mix of observational comedy and self-deprecating tales of

survival, expertly weaving his narrative with stunning audio visuals to give his audiences a real taste of adventure.

Based in Scotland and Sheffield, Andy has climbed extensively in Patagonia, Alaska and the Americas.  In 2002, Andy made the first winter ascent of Mermoz

in Patagonia, as well as soloing El Capitan’s mighty Reticent Wall, one of the hardest routes of its kind anywhere in the world. In 2003 he made a 15-day winter

ascent of the Lafaille route on the Petit Dru, a 1000-metre pillar in the Alps, considered one of the most difficult climbs in Europe and in 2007, Andy returned to

Patagonia to attempt the first winter ascent of Torre Egger, an expedition which was the subject of Alistair Lee’s multi-award winning film ‘Patagonian Winter’.

Off The Wall will be touring the UK between October-December 2010.
